Hi, from sunny northern California on Thursday afternoon, April 15th! I am preparing for our next Social Media webinar with Tamar Weinberg and I am so excited by her great social media smarts that I may not go to lunch today!
Mel and I will be interviewing Tamar this month, April 29th, 10 am PT, 1.00 pm ET. She is the author of “The New Community Rules: Marketing On The Social Web”. I highly recommend you buy this book. I am half way through and have had many aha moments about Social Media. She offers a Birds Eye view, dispelling Social Media confusion, and creating guidlines.
For example, on page 327 you’ll find a gem of a little book within her book: “The Ultimate Social Media Etiquette Handbook. “ It begins:
Social media mimics real relationships in many cases. Would you do the following in real, face-to-face relationships?
1. Jump on the friendship bandwagon without properly introducing yourself?
2. Consistently talk about yourself and promote only yourself without regard for those around you?
3. Randomly approach a friend you barely talk to simply to ask for favors – repeatedly?
4. Introduce yourself to another person as “Pink House Gardening?”
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you may need a refresher course on social media etiquette-and perhaps real-life etiquette also.
Good stuff!
What more than just a slice of Tamar’s wisdom? Click here to register for her April 29th webinar. Bring your questions!
